On Tuesday 7 January 2014, at 7:00 PM, AICafe invites you for panel and open discussion about the concept of Normalisation with representatives from OPGAI, Boycott! Supporting the Palestinian Call for BDS from Within and the AIC..Soon after arriving in Palestine one encounters the term 'normalisation' and the widespread Palestinian civil society opposition to normalisation with Israeli society. The concept of normalisation emerged at the 1979 Camp David agreements signed by Egypt and Israel. These agreements laid the foundation for normalised political, economic, cultural, social and academic relations between Arab countries and Israel - before solutions for a just and comprehensive peace were found.Normalisation is a crucial yet often misunderstood topic which encompasses and sheds light on numerous aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Palestinian struggle for liberation.Join for an open discussion with:Nassar Ibrahim (Alternative Information Center) will speak about the concept itself and the difference between normalization and a joint Palestinian-Israeli struggle (the alternative to normalisation);Ronnie Barkan (Boycott! Supporting the Palestinian Call for BDS from Within) speak about normalization and BDS, in addition to normalization in Israeli society;Join for this singular event! The AIC is a joint Palestinian-Israeli activist organization engaged in dissemination of information, political advocacy and grassroots activism. The AICafè is a political and cultural café open on Tuesday and Saturday night from 7pm until 10pm. It is located in the Alternative Information Center in Beit Sahour, close to Suq Sha'ab (follow the sign to Jadal Center ). We have a small library with novels, political books and magazines. We also have a number of films in DVD copies and AIC publications which critically analyze both the Palestinian and Israeli societies as well as the conflict itself.
