Israeli police Tuesday arrested a Muslim worshipper at al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City for saying out loud Allah Akbar (God is great), witnesses told WAFA. An al-Aqsa guard said Israeli police escorted more than 100 Jewish fanatics on a provocative tour of the yards of the mosque, considered one of Islam’s holiest sites. When the fanatics began to perform religious rituals, Palestinians responded by chanting Allah Akbar. Police arrested one person. The fanatics, who want to demolish the mosque to build a Jewish temple on its ruins, are allowed into the yards through Magharbe Gate, the closest to the Western Wall. They often perform religious rituals in violation of the Muslim sanctity of the compound.
