Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed today that his country would not re-consider the economic agreements it signed with Ukraine even if the opposition ascended to power. In a press conference in Brussels following the European Union and Russia summit, Putin said there is no political difference with Ukraine but the economic interest should prevail. He explained that Russia had offered a $15 billion loan to Kiev and Russia would like to be reassured that it would retrieve its money, noting that Ukraine has asked Russia to grant it more time to re-pay the gas invoice.
