Qatar today celebrated the World Drugs Prevention Day in a ceremony held at the Land Mark Complex, under the auspices of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs . The Director General of Public Security (DGPS) ,HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulai, who is also the head of the Permanent Committee for Drug and Alcohol Affairs has inaugurated the security exhibition accompanying the sessions of the celebration in the presence of HE Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, General Director of Qatar’s General Administration of Customs and a number of directors of departments at the Ministry of the Interior, experts and those who interested in the awareness of drugs and alcohol. Following the inauguration , the Director General of Public Security has toured the suites of the participating organs in the exhibition. In a speech ,Major General Saad, said the State of Qatar marked the World Drugs Prevention Day which falls on 26th June every year, to stress commitment to the international community in efforts to combat this phenomenon at the regional and international levels to combat the drug-related crime To combat the drugs, he noted that the State of Qatar has followed an integrated and balanced approach complies with the principles and provisions of international conventions on drugs and the consolidation of the continuous coordination and exchange of information with other countries and international organizations. Furthermore,He affirmed that the concerned circles in the state are working to carry out the second interim plan of the Qatar national strategy to combat drug (2010 2015) , in which a large-scale of public , private sectors and the civil society organizations were participating . He added the Permanent Committee for Drug and Alcohol Affairs stressed that the plan would be a comprehensive and with integrated elements and oriented to meet the goals of the strategy in reducing the illicit supply and demand of the drugs in order to realize the objective pursued by the State in establishing a modern state in which the security, prosperity and stability prevail, he said .
