Consultations between Egypt and Russia wrapped up on Monday, said Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister Hesham Badr.
Consultations with the Russian side tackled a host of issues related to disarmament and preventing nuclear proliferation, he added.
The two-day talks with the Russian side also tackled Egypt's nomination for the UN Security Council membership for 2016-2017 and the issues listed on the agenda of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly along with Egypt's efforts to join Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), added Badr, who led the Egyptian delegation in the Egyptian-Russian political consultations on Monday.
The Russian side welcomed the high level of consultations with Egypt in the various spheres, he said, adding that Russia voiced full support to Egypt in its bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
An invitation was extended to Russia to continue political consultations in 2016, he said, adding that the Russian side welcomed the invitation as part of the strategic ties binding the two countries.
Efforts are underway to set a date for consultations in Cairo, he added.
