The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday said Russia's Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov has met with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nuhayyan on the fringe of the 26th Arab Summit, which wrapped up in Sharm El Sheikh on Sunday.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry statement, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Gulf region, especially in view of the escalation in the Yemeni crisis.
Gogdanov asserted the necessity of immediately halting the fighting in Yemen and settling the crisis through peaceful means via a national dialogue.
The Russian presidential envoy also met with head of the Yemeni presidency Ahmed bin Mubarak and Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyadh Yassein and conveyed to them Russia's concern over the continued fighting there.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said participants in the meeting called for continuing political contacts between the two countries to work out solution for the crisis there.
