Moscow will send planes to Ankara to evacuate Russian nationals from Turkish territories, a Russian source said on Wednesday.

CNN Türk TV channel quoted the source as saying that Russian warplanes have mistakenly violated the Turkish airspace in the past period, but this does not give Turkey the right to down them.

Turkey announced on Tuesday that it has shot down a Russian warplane after repeatedly warning its two pilots they were violating the Turkish airspace, a claim denied by Russia's Defense Ministry.

Yesterday's downing of an SU-24 fighter bomber is the first serious loss suffered by Russia since it launched air strikes in support of Syrian President Bashar Assad nearly two months ago.
