Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Monday met with Syrian ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad, the foreign ministry here said in a statement.

Bogdanov, also President Vladimir Putin's special envoy for the Middle East, and Haddad discussed ways to defuse the Syrian crisis.

The talks tackled ways to boost bilateral ties.
