Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu met on Tuesday with his Egyptian counterpart Sedqi Sobhi.
The official reception for Sobhi was held at the headquarters of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The two sides discussed military and security cooperation as well as the exchange of expertise between the two states.
They also tackled the latest developments in the region as well as prospects of cooperation in the anti-terror war.
The meeting reflected identical viewpoints regarding many issues of mutual concern.
"Egypt is one of the most important partners for Russia," Shoigu said, adding that the current situation in the Middle East entails coordinating efforts to uproot terrorism.
Sobhi, meanwhile, expressed Egypt's appreciation of the Russian supportive stance, stressing that cooperation between the two states aims at providing security and peace in the Middle East and the world.
The meeting was attended by a large number of Egyptian and Russian top brass.
