A unit of the Russian Pacific Fleet is scheduled to pay an official visit to Japan\'s naval base Maizuru on Tuesday, a fleet spokesman said. The fleet unit, which include the destroyer Admiral Panteleyev and other warships, will visit the Japanese base on its way home from Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, spokesman Roman Martov told reporters. The Russian delegation will meet with the commander of the Maizuru base and the mayor of the city, Martov said. The ships, the spokesman said, will leave for its home port of Vladivostok on Sept. 1. A Japanese naval group will visit Vladivostok from Sept. 23 and take part in a number of drills with the Russian Navy, he said.
