Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius discussed over phone preparations for Syria peace talks due to take place in Geneva on January 29.

The two ministers tackled the pressing issues listed on the agenda of negotiations, which are scheduled to kick off Friday between the representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition under the auspices of the UN, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by Russia Today.
