A Russian man who pummeled an alleged shoplifter to death over a box of chocolates was sentenced to prison, prosecutors said. The defendant, whose name was not announced, got five years for manslaughter for the fatal beating at a candy store in Samara, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency said. Prosecutors said in a written statement the punched and kicked the alleged thief several times in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
