Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister and Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov on Tuesday discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Abdel Lahian bilateral relations and prospects of ending the Syrian conflict.

They also took up efforts by United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura to launch Syria negotiations in Geneva, a press release issued by the Russian foreign ministry revealed on Tuesday.

Besides discussing the recent developments in Syria, the two officials reviewed the situation in Yemen and relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
