The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev discussed here Wednesday with Libyan Prime Minister Abdullah al Thani issues of regional security and means of combating terrorism.

The two sides expressed concern pertaining to political division in the Arab country and the increasing influence of the terrorist groups in the Libyan territories, according to a statement by the council.

Patrushev stressed the importance of preserving the sovereignty and unity of Libya.
