Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi stressed that arming the mercenary terrorist groups will prolong the crisis in Syria. In a press conference with Foreign Minister of the Lebanese caretaker government Adnan Mansour in Tehran on Saturday, Salehi said that Iran opposes and will not allow attempts to impose foreign will on the Syrian people. \"We did not hide our support of the Syrian people and repeatedly announced that our support is economic… infrastructure in Syria was sabotaged and the Iranian people should provide the Syrians with basic materials, we are also supporting Syria politically and will continue this support,\" he said. Salehi said that Tehran will participate in the international conference on Syria in case the conference was held, adding that Iran opposes all meetings that lead to sending more weapons to the mercenaries in Syria, criticizing the double standards policy by the western countries regarding the crisis in Syria. Salehi said that Iran supports any meeting that is held with the aim of solving the crisis in a way that ensures the Syrian national interests and rejects imposing external will on the Syrian people. Salehi pointed out that there is a global war waged against Syria, adding that \"Be sure that when a country\'s people support its leadership, then there is no force that can impose its will on this people\". For his part, Mansour said that sending weapons to the Syrian opposition does not serve peace and dialogue, stressing his rejection of dialogue that does not lead to results but only further prolongs the crisis. \"We care about stability and security in Syria and we have to stop the flow of weapons and money as it will not serve the interests of the Syrian people and the peoples of the region,\" he said.
