Lawyers acting for Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir have filed appeals to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) against their clients' five-year bans for spot-fixing. In a statement issued through his lawyer Yasin Patel, Butt, who received a further five-year suspended ban, also says he will appear in the Britain's Crown Prosecution Service on March 17 to face criminal charges. Fast bowler Mohammad Asif was handed a seven-year ban with two suspended, while Amir was banned for five years after an ICC tribunal found them guilty of bowling no-balls at pre-arranged times during the fourth test against England in August. Amir's lawyer Karim says "we have challenged the judgment of the tribunal on various grounds."
