Saudi Arabia has condemned the Israeli government’s endorsement of a plan to build 558 new settlement units in East Jerusalem. It said the Israeli decision was contrary to all international norms and resolutions and reflects Israel’s continued intransigence to scuttle all efforts aimed at establishing a Palestinian state in the future with Jerusalem as its capital.The Saudi position was spelled out at a cabinet meeting held in Riyadh and chaired by Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdel Aziz.The planning and construction commission of the Jerusalem municipality endorsed recently the construction of 558 new settlement units in East Jerusalem.
