The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was re-elected today for the third term in a row as member of the UN Human Rights Council. During a secret balloting, a majority of 140 gave Saudi Arabia a seat in the 47-member council for the term from 2014 -2016. Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Ma’alami, Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the United Nations, said the Kingdom's election to the Human Rights Council for the third time in a row is yet another confirmation of its pioneering role in the council and the service of human rights issues.
