Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz has received a message from Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf asserting strong relations between the two countries.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said the king also received another message from Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, regretting the recent diplomatic row between the two countries.
Lofven stressed his personal regret about any act or statement issued by the Swedish government that might have been misunderstood as a form of humiliation to Saudi Arabia or Islam.
He said his government is interested in strengthening relations between the two countries.
Lofven said he is looking forward to welcoming the return of the Saudi ambassador to Stockholm and beginning to work together to strengthen ties between the two countries.
