Saudi King Salman ben Abdel Aziz

The prospective visit of Saudi King Salman ben Abdel Aziz to the US on Friday comes at a time when the region undergoes many developments, said US Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes.

In press statements Thursday, Rhodes said talks between US President Barack Obama and King Salman - who visits the US for the first time since accessing the throne - will tackle means of promoting bilateral cooperation in various domains, especially combating terror, border security and political settlements for regional conflicts.

The talks will tackle a host of regional issues, especially the conditions in Yemen and Syria, as well as the West nuclear deal with Iran, he said.

The meeting offers a good chance to follow up the progress realized in agreements reached between Obama and Gulf Cooperation Council in Camp David in May, he added.

King Salman's visit to Washington coincides with the Saudi-US investment conference which is meant to enhance economic cooperation between the two sides.
