Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry conferred Monday with his German opposite number German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on means to boost bilateral ties and a number of regional and international issues along with combating terror.

Both ministers talked about bilateral ties in the different political, economic, trade, investment and cultural fields for the interest of both countries especially after the success of Sharm el Sheikh economic conference, Spokesman of Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel Aati said.

Shoukry detailed his German counterpart about the situation in the Middle East in light of the current developments.

Also, the ministers discussed the situation in Libya in light of the current political and security developments and the efforts of Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Bernardino León to reach a political solution between the Libyan parties.

Shoukry said that Egypt has warned earlier that the terror in Libya should be strictly handled especially after the brutal beheading of Egyptian innocent people in Libya.

Steinmeier asserted the importance to combat Daesh and form a national unity government including the different Yemeni parties.

Abdel Aati said that the meeting also tackled the situation in Yemen, adding that Shoukry presented the Egyptian vision on the situation there.

Also, both minister talked on the situation in Iraq and means to keep its unity, Abdel Aati said.

They also touched on the Syrian crisis and the importance to reach a political solution and prevent the foreign fighters from reaching Syria, Abdel Aati said.

Shoukry asserted the importance of maintaining the Syrian unity and halting bloodshed there, presenting the efforts and contacts that Egypt conduct with all the opposition parties and the concerned regional and international parties.

The talks also took up the Iranian nuclear file in light of the agreement reached between Iran and the G5+1, the spokesman said.

Also, they discussed the threat of the illegal immigration specially from the Libyan coasts on Egypt, Germany and the states of the European Union.
