Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Irish Parliament Pat Breen.

The meeting took up means of promoting bilateral relations in all domains.

Breen hailed the positive developments witnessed by Egypt during the last phase as well as its steps towards achieving democracy and social and economic development, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Thursday.

He expressed the desire of the Irish parliament to cooperate with its Egyptian counterpart when it is formed, stressing his full respect for the independence of the Egyptian judiciary.

During the meeting, Shoukry explained the Egyptian efforts to achieve an economic boom and implement mega projects such as establishing the Suez Canal axis and the new capital as well as organizing the economic conference in Shram el Sheikh and its role in luring investments.

Breen listened to Shoukry's evaluation to the efforts exerted to combat terrorism in Libya, Syria and Iraq, lauding the role played by Egypt in supporting stability and fighting extremism.
