Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Thursday warned against the ongoing provocative Israeli practices to change the Arab and Islamic identity of East Jerusalem city, Egypt's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said.
Shoukry made the remarks during the meeting held between the ministerial delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which he leads and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Badr Abdel Aati added.
Also, the Egyptian top diplomat warned of the Israeil diggings around the Temple Mount area and under Al Aqsa Mosque, urging the international community to stop these Israeli violations that go against the principles of the international law, he underlined.
Shoukry hailed the Russian supportive stances towards the Palestinian cause, notably the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital , Abdel Aati said.
The Egyptian foreign minister asserted the necessity of resuming the Palestinian –Israeli negotiations in accordance with the agreed upon international terms of reference.
The Russian minister welcomed the ministerial delegation of the OIC headed by Sameh Shoukry and informed the delegation of the Russian supportive stances towards the Palestinian people and his country's rejection of the Israeli practices to change the demography of the East Jerusalem, the Egyptian ambassador highlighted.
The OIC delegation is comprised of Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Palestinian and Equatorial Guinea foreign ministers, Secretary General of the OIC Iyad Madani and ambassador of Azerbaijan, he asserted.
