South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has invited President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to attend celebrations marking the 4th anniversary of South Sudan's independence.
This came during a meeting held between Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his visiting South Sudanese counterpart Barnaba Benjamin.
In press statements following the meeting, Benjamin said he conveyed Kiir’s invitation to Sisi to attend the celebration.
Benjamin said he briefed Shoukry on the latest developments in South Sudan.
This file is going very well, said Benjamin in response to questions about South Sudan’s stance over the controversial issue of the Nile water between Egypt and Ethiopia.
Egypt and Ethiopia has achieved significant progress, Benjamin said.
He welcomed Egypt’s efforts to realize cooperation between his country and Sudan.
