President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi

President Abdel Fattah received Thursday a phone call from Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

During the phone conversation, the Cypriot president briefed Sisi on Cypriot's efforts in order to find a solution to the Palestinian cause, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

He also hailed Egypt's pivotal role in peace efforts along with its efforts to confront challenges in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.

Egypt is the cornerstone of regional stability, he added, noting that it is important to promote Egyptian-European ties within he upcoming phase.

Sisi, for his part, appreciated the Egyptian-Cypriot ties and Cyprus' keenness on coordinating with Egypt on a host of issues of mutual interest, topped by the Palestinian cause.

Sisi also welcomed promoting cooperation with the EU in order to settle the Palestinian cause and exchanging viewpoints regarding a host of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

An agreement was also reached to continue consultation and coordination within the upcoming phase to push forward peace efforts and attain security and stability.
