Spokeswoman for the World Food Program (WFP) in Geneva Elizabeth Pierce said that the situation in Iraq’s Samarra and Baghdadi is worsening.
Thousands of Iraqi civilians are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance such as food, clean water and drugs, Pierce said.
The WFP is ready to face waves of people fleeing the fighting and violence in Tikrit, Pierce told MENA correspondents.
The UN is also working with non-governmental organizations to register displaced families and deliver food parcels and non-food items.
