Tripoli - MENA
Spanish Defense Minister Pedro Morenes on Saturday said the situation in Libya requires an international military intervention to prevent Daesh of extending its control there.
We went to Afghanistan to stop the terrorism from going there, we are in Iraq, Mali and Somalia with the same objective. And now we have it nearby. Something may need to be done, the Spanish defense minister added.
Morenes reiterated Spain's support for an Italian proposal calling on the US-led coalition that is fighting Daesh in Syria and Iraq to expand its operations into Libya.
He also stressed that any action in Libya would need to have the approval of its government.
