Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, also a candinate for the upcoming presidential election, was injured during a pre-election football match in Kosice on Sunday. Fico, who was diagnosed as achilles tendon rupture on his left foot, will undertake a surgery later on Sunday in Bratislava, the Slovak news agency (TASR) reported. According to the prime minister's spokesperson Beatrice Szaboova, Fico sustained the injury while playing a presidential election campaign football match, between his personal team and the Smer's youth organisation Young Social Democrats. Szaboova added that the injury occurred outside the match itself and was not caused by anyone, said the report. "According to doctors, he should be able to do limited moving, with the help of special harnesses on his ankle," said Szaboova, adding the working program, as well as the rest of the election campaign will be adjusted, depending on the prime minister's health. The first round of the presidential election in the country will take place on March 15, with a potential run-off on March 29.
