Three soldiers were wounded in an attack by al-Qaeda gunmen on Monday. The gunmen attacked a security checkpoint of the Yemeni army and reportedly fled the scene after firing shots at the officers. The injured soldiers were rushed to a local hospital, sources in the army told Arabstoday. One soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and is in critical condition. The attack was in the south of Yemen and the gunmen fled towards the desert in the direction of al-Shabo, were al-Qaeda groups are believed to be based.
