South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se sought Malaysia's support Monday over South Korea's concerns regarding Japan's bid to list a set of industrial facilities linked to wartime Korean slave labor as UNESCO World Heritage sites, Yonhap news agency reported.

Yun delivered the concerns to his Malaysian counterpart Anifah Aman during a meeting in New York, where Yun arrived Sunday after conducting similar campaigns in Germany and Croatia.

South Korea is strongly against Japan's UNESCO bid as the facilities include seven sites where nearly 60,000 Koreans were forced to work during World War II, when Korea was under Japanese colonial rule.

The World Heritage Committee is scheduled to meet in Bonn from June 28-July 8 to decide on the issue.
