Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held lengthy talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se in Seoul on Tuesday, said spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

In statements, the spokesman said Shoukry's talks were followed by a dinner banquet hosted by his South Korean counterpart.

The Korean minister said his country is looking forward to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's projected visit to Seoul, a historic visit both the Korean leadership and people believe would push forward bilateral relations.

Shoukry said the visit aims at achieving a turning point in economic and development cooperation between the two countries, especially after bilateral relations were developed over the past period in light of growing mutual visits between senior officials of the two countries.

Shoukry urged doubling Korean investments in Egypt and setting up more development projects in Egypt, including the establishment of the Egyptian-Korean University for Technology, the fifth and sixth underground metro lines, building power and garbage recycling stations and developing railway sign system.

Trade exchange between Egypt and South Korea hit three billion dollars in 2014.

Shoukry also reviewed the roadmap plan in Egypt in light of the current implementation of the third obligation represented in parliamentary elections.

The Korean minister lauded the way parliamentary polls are being held in Egypt.

Talks between the two ministers also covered regional and international developments, especially fighting terrorism and extremist doctrine, the developments in Syria, Iran nuclear deal and other issues of mutual interest.

They agreed on sustaining political consultations at all levels.
