Bishop resigend on Sunday after weeks of pressure over an expenses
scandal, dpa reported.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who resisted calls for her to resign over
revelations of her extravagant travel expenses, made the announcement
at a hastily called press conference.

"Today Ms Bishop called me to let me know that she would be
resigning," Mr Abbott told reporters.
