A state of cautious calm prevailed Tuesday morning on the corniche in central Cairo after a night of clashes between protesters and police. Traffic is flowing normally and security troops have been redeployed in the vicinity of the US Embassy in Cairo after protesters returned to Tahrir Square. Fierce clashes erupted on Monday, with protesters hurling stones and Molotov cocktails and security elements firing tear gas.
