Khartoum - MENA
Adviser to the Sudanese President, Nafie Ali Nafie told reporters Thursday that hidden attempts to impede relations between Egypt and Sudan will fail. Nafie, deputy chairman of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), made the remarks after his meeting with leader of the Egyptian Freedom and Justice Party Saad el-Katatni. In his response on potential disputes with Egyptian administration over Halayeb Triangle, in the south east part of Egypt, the Sudanese official asserted that relations between the two countries have gone beyond these disputes. He said that Khartoum is not interested in keeping the Egyptians\' mind occupied by this issue now, while the government has more urgent issues to address. Sudan has no ambitions in the Egyptian lands, and so do Egypt, he made it clear, adding that the matter will be addressed through dialogue with no need for foreign mediation. Nafie also welcomed the Egyptian investments in Sudan, asserting that people of the two countries have taken concrete steps toward economic integration.
