Khartoum - QNA
Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti on Tuesday accused some figures with “war and expansion agenda” in South Sudan and in western countries of being behind the continuation of tension and dispute because they “do not want to see the peoples of the two countries live in peace and stability.” Karti made the remarks as he met members of the fact-finding delegation of the Pan-African Parliament, who expressed their concern with the relations between Sudan and South Sudan. The Sudanese official described peace as a “strategic objective” of the Sudanese government. The country’s leadership has sacrificed one third of its lands and one quarters of its population as well as three quarters of its oil resources in order to meet its commitments in the peace agreement, Karti told the delegation, according to Sudan news agency SUNA. He explained that Sudan continued to implement the peace agreement and conducted the Referendum on South Sudan, recognized its results, participated in the establishment of the new state and opened an embassy there. He added that he hopes the delegation gets acquainted with the real situations in Sudan.
