On Thursday 28th March, the Supreme Court in its capacity as the Constitutional Court turned down a petition by member of the Palestinian Legislative Council Muhammad Dahlan against a decision by President Mahmoud Abbas to lift his parliamentary immunity. The court said during a session in Ramallah that it was not in its authority to look into such cases. It said the decision by Abbas is not a law or legislation for the Court to issue an opinion on it. One dissent was among the judges.
