Police in Russia said they killed a suspected mastermind behind twin suicide attacks in late December that killed 34 people and injured nearly 100 more. Police surrounded a house in Izberbash Wednesday morning where a man identified only as Mirzayev, the leader of the Kadarskaya gang, was, ITAR-Tass reported. "The house was blocked on Wednesday morning. During the talks, one of the militants accomplices surrendered," a police source said. "The rest, including Mirzayev, opened fire and were killed in a shootout." Two suicide bombers detonated devices at a train station and a trolleybus in Volgograd within 24 hours of each other Dec. 29 and 30.
