Swedish Interior Minister Anders Ygeman unveiled Sweden's new strategy against terrorism on Friday. It includes allowing specialist police from abroad to work in Sweden, and in the event of a terrorist attack on home soil, the Swedish public would be alerted via SMS, according to Sveriges Radio.
Ygeman wants the national response team, the police's emergency force against terrorism, to be able to enlist the help of other countries' reaction forces if Sweden were to be hit by terrorist attacks. According to the proposal, the police would also work with the Armed Forces.
The Interior Minister said that he wants the public to be warned via SMS of any act of terrorism.
In concrete terms, the proposal includes preventing radicalization in prisons and giving a mandate to a number of authorities to strengthen surveillance, especially when it comes to IT communication, he added.
