Sweden is set to reduce the number of troops it has in Afghanistan by the end of 2013, Swedish officials said. Sweden has 500 troops serving in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan and plans to reduce that number to 300 by the summer of 2013, Khaama Press reported. Swedish forces would likely focus on training Afghan forces, Swedish officials said Thursday, adding it planned to increase its civilian aid to Afghanistan. Officials also said Sweden had signed an agreement to extend its mission there through the end of 2013.
