The Syrian government said here on Sunday Turkey's relocation of the tomb of Suleyman Shah from Syria's northern Aleppo to another site as "transgression into Syrian territories".
An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry described in a statement the Turkish move, which took place late Saturday, as "an act of aggression against Syria".
"Turkey did not await the Syrian consent to move the tomb after the Turkish Foreign Ministry informed Syria's consulate in Istanbul of its intent to carry out the relocation on the eve of the transgression act," the source said.
The source added that Turkey made the move without Syria's consent contrary to procedures usually followed according to "the 1921 agreement signed between Turkey and the French occupation authorities back then".
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said earlier on Sunday that the Turkish troops successfully relocated the Tomb of Suleyman Shah in Syria's northern Aleppo to a safer place.
The military operation took place late Saturday to evacuate soldiers guarding the tomb of Suleyman Shah to avoid the threats of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Davutoglu said in a press conference.
