Syrian opposition parties have adopted a draft document for aspired settlement to the Syrian crisis, partly proposing resumption of negotiations under UN auspices.
The groups, bonded under umbrella of the Syrian National Coalition of Opposition and Revolutionary Forces (SNC), reached the draft document during ongoing meetings, held in this Turkish city. The leading political activists, according to a statement released by the SNC information bureau, approved the proposed document for political settlement in Syria.
It proposes in part resumption of the conciliation talks, under the UN auspices, starting from conclusion of the Geneva conference of February 2013, and according to relevant UN resolutions.
SNC's statement confirmed that the aspired negotiations would aim at implementing the Geneva-1 conference declaration, forming a transitional leadership as a preliminary step for full-scale change of the political regime "including the head of the regime, its symbols, security apparatuses as well as establishing a civil multi-party regime." The statement included in details jurisdictions of the proposed interim authority, in addition to planned process of drafting a new constitution, holding elections, reforming institutions, noting that cessation of deadly acts, particularly attacks on civilians, is a basic condition for launching a new round of settlement talks.
The SNC's 19th plenary session got underway in Istanbul on Friday.
