A number of mortar shells from the Syrian side fell on Arma town and the outskirts of Jenine in Lebanon\'s northern city of Akkar last night. The towns located at the Great River banks also witnessed a high state of security tension last night after nine mortar shells fired from the Syrian side along the Lebanese bank of the river. No injuries were reported. On Monday, two Lebanese were killed in the outskirts of Akkar. Lebanese President Gen. Michel Suleiman called on the Syrian side to refrain from firing towards Lebanese territory and expressed regret at the continued fall of the Lebanese victims as a result of military actions near the Lebanese border with Syria. The Syrian-Lebanese border areas have witnessed security tensions since the start of the Syrian conflict by more than 23 months, included mortar shells fired by the Syrian side on the Lebanese border towns in addition to the firing on some areas of Lebanon located on the northern border between Lebanon and Syria.
