Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb met on Tuesday with the head of the Malian peace and reform society.
During the meeting, Tayyeb expressed Azhar's solidarity with Mali and the other West African countries in their war against extremism and terrorism.
"Azhar is ready to provide training courses for Malian preachers to correct misconceptions about Islam," he said.
The Malian official, for his part, urged a more active role for Azhar to face destructive thoughts in Mali.
He also invited Tayyeb to attend a conference, to be held in Mali in May, to discuss the role of development in achieving peace.
