Thailand's anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Wednesday called a mass rally on Jan. 13 to paralyze Bangkok. The rally will start at 9 a.m. that day, with stages set up at multiple intersections in the capital, Suthep was quoted by the Nation newspaper as saying. He also asked protesters nationwide to start preparations now. The opposition Democrat Party will open talks on Thursday with different organizations and sectors of the society on how to reform the country, party spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut announced Wednesday. The Democrats have decided to boycott the Feb. 2 general election, demanding political reform beforehand.
