Tunisia's Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche

Tunisia's Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche met on Monday with heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of Italy, France, Britain, Germany, Spain, Malta and the European Union ambassador to Tunisia.

The meeting is part of the EU countries endeavor to urge Tunisia to convince the Libyan factions to accept a draft political deal outlined by Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya Bernardino León, the Foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.

Baccouche expressed his country's concern over the situation in neighboring Libya, noting that Tunisia backs a political solution to the Libyan crisis and supports the UN efforts in this regard.

A national unity government is in critical need for a successful democratic transition on Libya, the minister added.
