Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki granted pardons to 1,900 prisoners including 29 foreigners, the official TAP press agency reported Tuesday. Quoting a statement from the presidency released Tuesday, the report said the president pardoned the prisoners on the occasion of the second anniversary of the upheaval that toppled former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The pardoned prisoners had been sentenced for minor crimes, not exceeding one year, and had served two thirds of their prison terms, the statement said.
