Turkey has completed large parts of a security fence on its border with Syria, said Anadolu news agency on Sunday.

The fence in Hatay province will prevent smuggling activities and the infiltration of militants.

Earlier this year, Turkish authorities vowed to set up the 11.4-long –km fence as the war in its neighbor Syria is escalating.

More patrols have been deployed in the border area in the province to maintain security.
