Military sources in Turkey Wednesday confirmed news that a US predator was shot down by Syrian air defenses in northern Latakia.
The drone had taken off from the US Incirlik air base in Turkey's southern province of Adana.
Syria’s state news agency Sana said the jet had crashed in a northwestern province along the Mediterranean coast, near the Turkish border.
US defense officials said they lost contact with the unarmed MQ-1 Predator drone on Tuesday evening, but they could not determine what brought it down.
