Turkey detains 40 Daesh suspects

Turkey seized 40 people over suspicion of joining Daesh.

Ten were arrested in four districts in central Istanbul and 30 - mostly foreigners - in Adana in southern Turkey and Elazig in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish NTV news channel reported on Tuesday.

Adana security forces also rounded up 15 Egyptians and Russians in the city over their involvement in sending people to Syria via Turkey.

Three Daesh elements were arrested in the Kurdish majority city of Diyarbakir. They were planning to carry out a terror attack in a sensitive and crowded area in central Diyarbakir.

Since the beginning of 2016, Turkey rounded up about 73 people over suspicions of joining Daesh.
