Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended a meeting hosted by Syrian Turkmens Platform in Ankara on the establishment of the Assembly of Syrian Turkmens. Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Erdogan underlined that Turkey could not remain silent to the agony of \"our Turkmen brethren in Syria\". \"The Republic of Turkey brings up the interests of our Turkmen brethren at every platform with loud voice and will continue to do so,\" Erdogan noted. \"It is highly important that the Turkmens get represented in the newly formed Syrian cabinet,\" Erdogan underlined. \"It is beneficial for the Turkmens to act in a wide and inclusive political formation through which they can make their voices heard and to obtain the status they deserve in a new democratic Syria,\" Erdogan stressed. I support works for the establishment of an assembly which would be the voice and conscience of Syrian Turkmens, Erdogan also said. Syrian Turkmens need to forget past and make plans of how a new Syria could be built Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also attended the meeting. Speaking at event, Davutoglu stressed that \"the Syrian Turkmens needed to forget the past and make plans of how a new Syria could be built\". \" Turkey will always be on your side in any case,\" Davutoglu told the SyrianTurkmens. \"No matter what the dispute may be between yourselves, you must protect unity. If you can not protect unity, you can not receive what you rightfully deserve,\" Davutoglu indicated. \"Syrian Turkmens must receive the position that they deserve within the Syrian National Coalition and must have an active status under this roof,\" Davutoglu also said. Also speaking at the Ankara meeting, the Chairman of Syrian National Coalition George Sabra underlined that \"when Syria reaches freedom, the Turkmens and Kurds will have their place next to the Arabs\". \"The Turkmens are an inseparable part of the Syrian fabric,\" Sabra indicated. Honorary Chairman of the Syrian Turkmens Platform, Mehmet Sandir said that \"as Syrian Turkmens, we have gathered here to establish the Syrian Turkmens assembly so that we can represent our will and ideal unity in the (Syrian) opposition\". Chairman of the Syrian Turkmens Platform Muhammad Ali Bardakci stressed that today\'s meeting was highly crucial for the future of the Syrian Turkmens and would add strength to their struggle against the Ba\'ath regime and add strength to the struggle for freedom.
